Explosion Rocks Castor

Castor FireA Tuesday morning explosion and fire at Terroco A & E Oilfield Services in Castor caused several injuries and forced the evacuation of the Gus Wetter school.  The 9:30 a.m. blast occured during manufacturing and painting operations and was fought by firefighters from Castor and Coronation and was controlled by early afternoon.  A number of vehicles were destroyed, along with the structure where the explosion occured.

Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry is investigating the incident.  The Castor Fire Department and Coronation RCMP detachment also continue to investigate.

Castor is approximately 60 km east of Stettler, in the County of Paintearth.
