Greengate Power Corporation files Preliminary Assessment Application for Interconnection of its 150MW Halkirk Wind ProjectCalgary,
Alberta, Canada, August 23, 2007 – Greengate Power Corporation has
filed its Preliminary Assessment Application with the Alberta Electric
System Operator (AESO) for the interconnection of its 150MW Halkirk
Wind Project. The Halkirk Wind Project is being developed on
approximately 15,000 acres of private land located in East Central
Alberta 40km east of the Town of Stettler.
Located in a wind swept area of Alberta consisting of flat
cultivated land and grazing land, initial Microscale Modelling
indicates a very good wind resource of approximately 7.5 m/s. The
project is 10km from a 240kv transmission line with available capacity.
The development of this project is progressing quickly with
installation of a 60m Meteorological Tower by Phoenix Engineering
scheduled for the end of October 2007, and commencement of the
Environmental Assessment and Public Consultation activities with
Jacques Whitford scheduled for early October 2007.
