The Drumheller-Stettler provincial electoral district was created prior to the 2004 Provincial General Election as a merger of the Drumheller-Chinook riding and the eastern half of the Lacombe-Stettler riding. The boundaries of the district were established by the Electoral Boundaries Commission subsequent to the 2001 census and are set out in the Electoral Boundaries Act, proclaimed in October of 2004.
Only two elections have been held since the creation of the riding -- the 2004 General Provincial election and the 2007 byelection to replace former MLA Shirley McClellan. Presently Progressive Conservative Jack Hayden is the MLA for the riding. Full election results for the 2004 and 2007 elections can be found here.
