My opinion on what the site mascot would be is this:

The cow would probably be the obvious choice, and I voted for it. (Plus, the Cow is an underdog, despite the fact that it is not a dog.)

It's the animal most relating to Alberta in general, so it would make sense.

I love Raccoons, though it wouldn't really convey the wildlife of Alberta as well as some others would.

On a site note, that horse looks a bit under the influence.

Thanks for your vote and post James. Yes there are perhaps more than a few local representative animals not included here which really should be. You or anyone may feel free to recommend the addition of one or more of these. And if one has a good picture, which we would be able to use here, they can feel free to point us to that as well.  All these images are 114px X 114px, and head shots, rather than full body shots, are preferred... but all good photos will be considered. Some service such as ImageShack is a good way to upload a picture which can be then embedded in a post here for everyone to look at and would be better than trying to mail it directly to this site.

I think he might've been out partying with that goat and the kitten.   Grin

Actually I think I saw that horse hanging around with this gopher...

so that might explain things a bit...  he he

And in addition to a gopher I think a coyote really should be included as well. I will try to find a good picture of one of these trickster animals as well as a better, or more appropriate perhaps, picture of a gopher... or are they really Richardson ground squirrels around these parts?

Hmmm, the coyote and gopher have a lot of traction, as would the snowy owl, whitetail deer, and moose.  Tough one to call.  Maybe the horse (in Alberta) because it could represent both domestic and wild animals in one mascot?

I have to go with the cow, and not just 'cause all the other pics are kinda freaking me out a little.

With that update, I would perhaps go for the gopher or coyote. Either of them are good representatives.

Please note that two new mascots have been added to the collection: the coyote and the gopher. Thanks to Hermetic. Feel free to change your vote.

If that poor bunny and raccoon don't get any votes(and maybe even if they do) they may be removed. In addition to the animals mentioned by Landru... erm, I mean snouto...(yes even teh dreded bajer. Onoz!) it would be nice to get some good pictures, perhaps, of a sheep and jack rabbit(more representative than the current bunny).
